They could not cross The Rubicon... World Series Of Metal, Day 2

Ok, now here is yet another one of my stories. During the last weekend we managed to visit Day 2 of World Series of Metal that once again took place in Agora club, this time on 2 stages. Actually, World Series of Metal Fest was covering all 3 weekend days, but we decided to visit it exclusively on Saturday. It was partially due to the price of 3-day pass which was worth $35 plus to the fact that the Fest line-up was not really impressive. To tell you the

truth, all 4 of us (well, maybe 3, because I believe Davidka was only interested in **** (that's a person's name not the word 'fuck' here!) and that's why he went with us) were only interested in one particular band, that is being MENTAL HOME. I think it's difficult to explain how we felt when we came there and found out that MENTAL HOME was not playing that day. We were told that they could not get out of the country and thus all the US shows were canceled!!! Well, it was pretty frustrating to hear, said at least! Fortunately, later on I was able to get a partial compensation for that disappointment, because: 1. I met Andreas from The End Records (MENTAL HOME & NOKTURNAL MORTUM among others) who was representing both his own company and Century Media 2. Due to the presence of several CD-selling booths, I felt like I was at Gorbushka again (those of you who don't know what Gorbushka is - I feel sorry for you)! I bought 4 CD's and not via some fucking Internet store but from the real people and it felt great. By the way, after 30 minutes of extensive shopping, I found myself being completely broke - just like in old times!!! 3. We heard some pretty cool local bands, which caught
me completely off guard, because I thought Americans could not produce good music at all, but fortunately I was wrong! We all liked LUCIFER'S HAMMER from Detroit with their BATHORY-inspired black/death metal as well as SOMNUS, who play atmospheric black/death/doom/whatever metal with keyboards and some female vocals, and SANCTORUM - absolutely the best band of the night, who reminded me of MITHOTYN more than of anyone else, from Cleveland. In the beginning of SANCTORUM's set 4 became 2 and you should have seen relief on Davidka's tortured face, haha! Surely it looked like he preferred restaurant where they were going to the Metal show. Besides these 3 aforementioned bands, the rest of the groups we managed to listen to could be rated anywhere

between decent and pure shit. We left the show approximately 3 hours before OVERKILL (who was headlining that day) hit the stage, but as we were not very interested in their music, it only made perfect sense to save our ears from another 3-hour portion of noisy shit and go home instead.

Regards, Andy.

P.S. Personal stuff (do not read if you are under 18!!!). There was a beautiful keyboard player in Somnus, whom we loved from the first second we saw her, and believe it or not, but during their set she hailed me PERSONALLY TWICE (no shit)!!! Afterwards, Shurik was claiming that she actually hailed us both and not only me, but I seriously doubt it. Anyway, whatever the case is, Rhiannon, if you read it, please contact me and at least let me know how to pronounce your name correctly! :-)
